The Story of a T-Shirt!

Route map HERE if you are interested...

Due to the joys of having children this summers holiday was a 2500 mile trip around Europe covering eight countries by MPV. To make us feel better we used it as a scouting trip for future holidays and there was a distinct ‘bike’ feel to the trip...

I picked up a brand new R1200GS T-shirt from Mike Roberts of MJR Productions that is a superb quality T with a ‘flock’ type material and it managed to start loads of conversations around Europe (Link Here)! Thoroughly recommended.

Highlights...
The trip was a 400 mile blast down to Dijon for an overnight, then down to Antibes for eight days of chilling out (day trips to Monte Carlo etc). Managed to talk the local bar owner into showing the MotoGPshirt21702.

After this the real fun began as we came back through Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Holland and Belgium camping each night and seeing some amazing sights and roads. I think the pictures best sum it up! Thanks must go to the long-suffering wife for the photography and before you ask - the T-shirt did get washed!

Must-See’s :
Freddie Mercury’s Statue on the Montreux Lake Geneva shoreline (are you humming Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple?)
Nurburgring - how can you not stop here when you are coming through Germany. Unfortunately we couldn’t take the car around as I drove the last 800 miles with no rear disc pads (time to trade in the car I feel). We also managed to get into the Paddock at the F1 circuit on the Thursday night before the F3000 championship which was great to walk around.shirt189
The Matterhorn - Stunningly impressive as it climbs to about 4800m and the temperature was 4 degrees in August. We looked incredibly stupid in shorts and sandals but we didn’t stay for long...the kids made sure of that.
Monte Carlo - Mingle with the Ferraris and drive a large lump of the F1 circuit, giving the engine some welly through the tunnel to get a feel for what the noise must be like when the F1 cars go through...shirt24102

Best roads :
The SR46 in Italy from Chatillon to Breuil-Cervinia (Matterhorn base camp!) followed by the E27 from Aosta to Martigny which was easy but fantastically scenic.
Not forgetting also the N7 from Cannes to Monte Carlo, with some culture, some cruising and some gentle twisties down into Monte Carlo.shirt264

By the way if you have a look at the T-shirt site - let him know where you heard of him!
